Britain’s Jewish community finds itself more beleaguered than at any time in living
memory. At the same time, a significant number of British Jews deny that there is a
significant problem and say such concerns are exaggerated. How are these tensions
and disagreements to be explained? Who is right?
And how has it happened that a country which so many of its Jews had assumed
provided the most benign environment in the world appears to have turned against
