Fiyaz Mughal is the founder of ‘Muslims Against Antisemitism’ and the Founder and
Director of ‘Faith Matters’. A leading voice of moderation within Britain’s Muslim
community, he has led numerous trips for Muslim activists, politicians and community
leaders to Israel and has organised national speaking tours for Holocaust and
Kindertransport survivors and Muslim survivors of the killing camps in Bosnia. Through
his extraordinary work, he aims to encourage Israeli Jews and Arabs and British Jews
and Muslims to see each other through different lenses, instead of being ‘the other.’
He believes that engagement and discourse is essential to counteract the growing
gulf between these groups.
Fiyaz will provide us with an insider’s view of current developments within the UK’s
Muslim community, both negative and positive and will candidly discuss some of the
threats affecting Jews and Muslims today. An optimist by nature, he will identify the
alliances that can realistically be built up and methodologies that he has found to be
effective in paving the way for a brighter future.
